Themed "Land-Sea Interaction and Environmental Issues", the conference included eight sessions, which respectively are "Climate-Growth Relations and Past Climate Reconstruction", "Ecological Process and Dynamic based on Tree Rings" "Isotope Geochemistry based on Tree Rings " "Physiological and Anatomical Features" "Tropical and Subtropical Forests" "Large-Scale Comprehensive Research on Climate Change" "Tree Rings and the Environment Problem" as well as "Tree Rings and Shrub Growth".

Over 350 delegates from 14 countries registered for the conference and 206 abstracts were received, including 143 oral abstracts and 63 poster abstracts. At present, humankind is confronting serious threats from global climate change. The climate change crisis presents a unique opportunity and responsibility for global geographers. The wide range of topics the conference discussed are closely focused on key ecological and environmental issues concerned by international community, with an emphasis on multispherical interactions and integrated studies.

The conference further promoted dendrochronology studies and deepened the communication and cooperation amongst scientists from different countries in Asia and around the world, and provided a good opportunity for extensive across-region cooperation in the future.
