State Key Laboratory of Surface Processes and Resource Ecology Public Opening Event for National Science and Technology Activity Week 2022 successfully held
From 21 to 28 May 2022, during the National Science and Technology Week 2022, the State Key Laboratory of Surface Processes and Resource Ecology (ESPRE) held online four sessions of science talks with different topics for the public under the theme "Into Science and Technology, You and Me Together".
1st Session: High-end academic lectures
On May 22, Academician Fu Bojie and Academician Yu Guirui of the Chinese Academy of Sciences were invited to give lectures on "Geography and Global Sustainable Development Goals" and "The Strategic Significance and Basic Strategies for Carbon Neutrality in China" respectively.
2nd Session: Talks on sustainable monitoring and safety experiments
On May 25, Professor Gong Jirui, Director of ESPRE's Analysis and Testing Centre, and Xu Zewei, Executive Director of the Integrated Observatory of Surface Processes in Heihe River Basin gave presentations on "Laboratory Safety and Personal Literacy" and "Integrated Observation Network of Things for Surface Processes in Heihe River Basin" respectively.
3rd Session: Talks on earth surface system and the community of life
On May 27, Associate Professor Hu Yi from the School of Life Sciences, BNU and Mr. Sun Zhengzheng from the Management Office of Qi'ao Dangandao Provincial Nature Reserve in Zhuhai, Guangdong Province were invited to introduce the science of microorganisms in the biological world and the Qi'ao Dangandao Provincial Nature Reserve in Zhuhai respectively.
4th Session: Lecture on Soil Science
On 28 May, Dr. Yang Shunhua from the Nanjing Soil Institute of the Chinese Academy of Sciences gave a special popular science lecture on "Where is the magic soil?
Based on its scientific research and in a more scientific and audience-friendly form, the public opening event held by ESPRE was a complete success which promoted the spirit of science, popularized scientific knowledge, as well as created a good atmosphere for all people to talk about science, love science and learn science.
