FGS 2022 Graduation Ceremony successfully held

The Graduation Ceremony of the Faculty of Geographical Science (FGS) was held online on June 21. Professor Su Yun, Secretary of the CPC Party Committee of FGS, Professor Song Changqing, Dean of FGS, and all other Party and Administrative leaders of FGS attended the ceremony together with the heads of secondary institutions, faculty members, headteachers of the graduation classes, alumni representatives as well as 2022 graduates and their parents.

There were 431 graduates in 2022, including 107 undergraduates, 236 master students and 88 doctoral students.

The ceremony first awarded the outstanding graduates of 2022, which included the first batch of the Sailing Plan on "Good Teachers with Four Remarkable Qualities", graduates who would work in the west or the grassroots institutions, outstanding graduates at school level and municipal level etc.

Two representatives of 2022 graduates made speeches, they explained how they become more knowledgeable, responsible and with good qualities during the study in FGS, they also expressed their gratitude to FGS and their blessings to the fellow students.

Two outstanding alumni made speeches. Mr. Li Ping, General Manager of the Commercial Press, recalled his growth during the study in BNU. He encouraged the graduates to have high aspirations and keep learning, with their feet on the ground and their love to the family and country in mind. Mr. Han Jiaqiang, an outstanding teacher from Chengdu Tianfu Seventh High School, suggested the graduates to possess "ten sentiments" in life, like the caring for the nature, perseverance against difficulties, filial piety for parents, loyalty to love, patience for children, sincerity for friends, and a sense of self kindness etc. He hoped that the graduates would carry forward the spirit of "profound" and "far-sighted" spirit of FGS, and contribute to the society in a broader land.

Professor Song Changqing, Dean of FGS, gave his blessings and messages to the graduates. He expressed his heartfelt wishes to all graduates, he said that the 2022 degree uniforms contain the brand of the new era, since the rapid changes in technology, the dramatically changing international environment, and the diverse developments related to geosciences have injected new elements to education. Teachers and students experienced a new teaching and learning model since the outbreak of covid-19. H said that despite all the inconveniences, they successfully completed their studies and became more physically and mentally mature, and with this experience, they would surely succeed in the future amidst changes and challenges. Finally, Prof. Song wished the students to make a great success in the future and contribute to the people and country with their knowledge learned in FGS.

The graduates also prepared a wonderful online show in the ceremony, and expressed their deep attachment to the university and the Faculty, as well as their deep friendship with their fellow students and teachers.
