FGS students successfully completed Cardiff University’s short online course

98 FGS students registered for the short online course offered by the School of Earth and Environmental Sciences, Cardiff University, in which 38 completed the course in 3 weeks from August 15 to September2, 2022.

The course “Extreme Geological Events” aims to help the students discover how extreme geological events have transformed our planet.

With 4 hours’ course study and 1.5 hours’ discussion session per week, the students got a brief understanding of the geological history of planet Earth, the basic understanding of the extreme events like the largest floods, tsunamis, earthquakes and volcanic eruptions, and explored the extreme events that shaped and created conditions for human life.

The course was a successful exploration of the cooperation in online courses during the epidemic period.
