The Geography of Contemporary China, an English textbook co-authored by Professor Wang Jing'ai of Beijing Normal University, Professor Liang Shunlin of the University of Maryland and Professor Shi Peijun of Beijing Normal University, has been officially published by Springer.

The Geography of Contemporary China is a richly illustrated textbook that introduces China's physical geography, history, economy and political system, with a focus on the geographical issues in agriculture, population, urbanization, resources and energy as well as the environment during the contemporary development of China. The book consists of 6 parts and 15 chapters, systematically introducing the geographical overview of China (including China's geographical location, population and economic overview, territory and geopolitics), physical geography of China (including topography and landforms, climate and climate change, hydrology and water resources), land and natural resources of China (including land cover and land use, natural resources and energy), ecology and environmental restoration of China (including land degradation and ecological construction, environmental pollution and protection as well as natural disasters), human and economic geography of China (including population and urbanization, economic geography, China's opening up and trade, as well as tourism geography), and finally sustainable development of China.
